Joys of Fatherhood

Well it happened last night, one of those moments when I witnessed one of Sophia's firsts and knew that she was growing up to be a big girl. I was sitting on the floor in front of our sofa while she and I played with all her toys on the floor. She was running around being her usual crazy self, hugging Tonka uncontrollably, doing little dances and trying to do a somersault.
I wanted to turn the TV down because neither of us were really watching the program. So I said to her "Sophia, get me the remote" and I pointed to the side table where it was sitting. She looked at me and then at the table and in her little cute little toddler stride she walked over, got the remote and then excitedly walked it over to me, arm extended, remote leading the way. As I embraced her in a big hug, I realized just how happy lucky I am to be a daddy. I realize she won't always be so happy to do little chores for me, so I had better cherish these moments while they last.

  • Joel, I'm a little late with a comment, but, as I explained last nite, I though we were ending the blog and going with the board.
Anyway, just wanted to comment re the fact that you worried that Sophia will one day tire of being your "gofer," remember she will always remain your "little" girl. Continue the close relationship as a good daddy should and you will be rewarded by your children throughout your lifetime. I know it is a bit too early for you to be comtemplating this, grandchildren are wonderful also!
